As a lover of steamed buns, I'm sad to only just discover this place! I must have come here often when I lived in Shanghai for work... I'd already had some delicious food in Shanghai, so I didn't have high expectations, but it was delicious. You must visit when you're in Suzhou. There's a wait~~

Suzhou local restaurant with 80 years of tradition. Great fried dumpling(Shengjian Bao) and dumpling soup!! Always there is a waiting but worth waiting for it.

We were at Shantang street and decided to have a simple dinner. Then somehow or rather we ended up at Yaba Shengjian. It must have been fate.. we were among the last to order because most of their dishes were already sold out but we managed to order their main dish shengjian and a bowl of glass noodles. The shengjian is like a fried version of xiao long bao but a little like gyoza.. crispy on the outside, tender and juicy from the inside. Got to eat with caution ⚠️ though.. the meat has some soup when you bite it.. think back, is really good. Not forgetting the glass noodles is also good. Once you pay, you have to go to the back to collect your food. The lady boss was really very good because I was looking for washroom and she mentioned we got to walk all the way to the back and she then brought me over.. soo nice!! 🥲 The next day I only knew from my tour guide that this shop is super famous and most locals would have frequent to this restaurant since they were young! It was actually started by a mute gentlemen many years back and eventually pass down to his son. So of you're in suzhou come here and come early!!!
